Spinal Unit Action Group - 2010

Refurbishing the Kitchens at Weld Road

 

SUAG was established in 1973 to support the patients and ex-patients of the North West regional Spinal Injuries Centre in Southport. To do this, the Group maintains a long and short term specialist residential home at 6 Weld Road Southport.

 

The Group actively raises funds for the continued operation of the home, but, inevitably, at times of financial stringency and miserable returns on investments, money can become short.

 

In order to continue the high standards achieved at the home, SUAG decided to replace the kitchen equipment, which had seen many years great service, with a new, stainless steel, installation and Southport Lions Club was delighted to help with this venture.

Funded partly by the proceeds from the Lions Shop in Ainsdale, the Club was able to make a donation of £5,000 towards the cost of the kitchen, and to provide professional support and advice in the planning stages.

Our pictures show the very impressive new fitted stainless steel equipment, together with SUAG’s resident Chef, at the official opening of the kitchen on 16th July 2010
