In Case of Emergency - ICE

We all like to feel in control; nothing is going to happen to us, emergencies are things which affect other people. For most of us, most of the time, this is true, but there are no guarantees.

Supposing you were walking through town, and the driver of a passing car had a heart attack, lost control of the vehicle and hit you. Would you have enough information on you for the emergency services to know who you are, and whom to contact?

There is something you can do to help. Anyone can do it, it doesn’t mean joining anything, and it doesn’t cost a penny.

If you have a mobile phone, use the ‘Phonebook’ or ‘Contacts’ feature to set up an entry under the heading ‘ICE’ with the phone number of someone whom you would want to tell if anything happened to you.

If you don’t have a mobile phone, write the information in your address book, or diary, or on a slip of card in your wallet or purse.

The emergency services are trained to look for ICE if they can’t find any other information. It’s so easy, why not do it now?
