Santa’s Grotto - Wayfarers’ Arcade 2008
Someone once tried to apply engineering principles to Christmas and calculate just how many houses Santa would have to visit, and the approximate average speed necessary to complete the task. Pointless, really, because everyone knows that Santa, and Rudolf, have a seriously efficient back-up team of Little Helpers. This year, a number of the LHs were in evidence at the Grotto found in the Wayfarers' arcade, making sure that as much of the ground-work had been done before Christmas Eve as possible. And the strange thing was that they were all members, friends and supporters of Southport Lions!

The magic spell was cast, and over a thousand children passed through the Grotto, during November and December 2008, telling Santa the secrets of their Christmas wishes. And Santa responded in kind, even pointing out to one hopeful youngster that there would be no problem with providing a new laptop for Christmas as he himself came from Lapland. Mmmm.

But all of the Little Helpers agreed that there is nothing at all quite like seeing the awe and wonder with which the youngsters regard the Big Chap.

Where to go from here
